I was lucky enough to visit Paris a few years ago, exploring the city in beautiful autumn weather. Heading back this winter for a conference was a different experience altogether.
I got in to Paris a day early to re-discover Montmartre – one of my favorite areas. Walking towards Montmartre we actually had really nice weather, but there were darker clouds in the distance. Montmartre is the home of bohemia and artists past and present. You can see this in all the street-art lining the streets, some more interesting than others.
Once we reached the Sacre-Coeur, the weather held up enough to get some nice photos of the view. We were lucky enough to get some good photos without too many people in them. While there the wind picked up and the darkest clouds rolled in. We decided this was a good time to explore the inside of the church.
Once the rain subsided a little, we went back out on the search for the only vineyard in Paris. We found it on one of the back slopes. It is closed off by a gate we still managed to see it. After taking a few photos the wind and rain picked up again. We ended the day in an amazing wine bar at the back of a wine shop – definitely the highlight of the day.
