The one thing I really like about Norway is that everything is so close to nature. To get to Sognsvann, one of the closest nature areas, it is only a 15 minute metro ride from the city centre. Add that to Norwegians love for nature, you have a very popular spot – especially on a Sunday afternoon.

Pretty nature and dog

Starting off a Sognsvann we decided to follow the sings towards Vettakollen. Along the way we found different mushrooms, wild cranberries and blueberries. Whenever I saw someblueberries – I just had to taste. The beginning of the hike was pretty easy, but the trail got steeper the closer we got to the top. When we reached the top of Vettkollen, we were rewarded with a fantastic view of Oslo and the Oslo fjord. We had a rest until it started raining properly, so we headed back down.

We decided to do the walk around Sognsvann as well. There is a gravel trail that follows the lake shore all the way around, with the prettiest views of the lake. As it was a Sunday afternoon the trail was busy with joggers, families and generally people out for an afternoon walk. When we made it back to the parking lot we stopped for one of my favourites treats, waffles with brunost and jam!
