The Butchart Gardens are botanical gardens located just outside Victoria, BC in Canada. The first part of the garden was opened in 1907 by the Butchart family, but it was not until 1921 they properly began receiving visitors. Several gardens have been added throughout the years, and the park was declared a national historic site in 2004.

Entering the gardens there is a main pathway that will bring you to all the main areas of the gardens, and smaller pathways leading into the smaller gardens. The first garden we got to was the sunken garden, which was a small lawn surrounded by a flower covered pathway. As you enter the sunken garden there is a staircase allowing for the prettiest views and pictures. At the end of the sunken gardens there is a beautiful dancing fountain, as well as a pond with the most beautiful willow tree.

Continuing on the main pathway we came to a glass house with an old fashioned carousel which was so pretty! We also walked past more trees and flowers, as well as the dragon fountain and the salmon fountain, until we arrived at the Japanese gardens. To get to these you had to walk down a pretty long pathway, and as we did not have that much time we decided to skip this part.

Almost reminds me of the old school Parisian carousels

Lastly we went to my favourite garden, the rose garden. There were roses in so many different colours, and they gave off the most amazing smell! There were covered arches you could walk through, and so many rose bushes lining the pathways. Some of the bushes even had the cutest name plates.

Next to the rose garden was the restaurant, where we decided to go for high tea. Having never had high tea before, it was so much food, but so delicious! We ordered a limoncello-sparkling wine cocktail, which was too good. Then we first got a glass with a yummy trifle, before the classical three tier plates with scones, small finger sandwiches and tiny cakes. Most definitely a fantastic way to end my contract!
