“We take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone” – Katie Thurmes
I have loved photography for as long as I remember – whether it is taking pictures or looking at them. When travelling it is the way I capture moments and memories, something I can look back at later. Recently however I worked on my skills, and turned photography into a passion. The colors, moody weather and beautiful scenery in Burgundy provide the perfect environment.
I love driving along the Route des Grands Crus, seeing how the colors change from week to week – from green to yellow, orange and red. Just as you think the colors cannot get brighter they get even more intense. I frequently ask my friends to pull over at the side of the road so I can take photos.
Visiting vineyards during autumn also gives good photo opportunities. Often the buildings are old and charming, and the surroundings spectacular. One vineyard we visited was surrounded by a forest, and walking amongst the vines we saw two deer. Unfortunately I wasn’t quick enough with my camera and they ran too fast for me to take a photo.
My friend and I also walked along the river in Dijon playing with the settings on our cameras. The sun was on its way down making it difficult to capture the color. Even so, I found parts of the water where I could play with shutter speed. After sunset I also tried, and failed, to photograph some red berries. In frustration I decided to use the flash which did not work, until my last picture that is.
Autumn is definitely coming to an end – I mean it has snowed already. That being said, I cannot wait for the next season and the photo opportunities it will bring along.
